Giant Eagle and 1870 Society announce “Pizza with the Bucks” Frozen Pizza
Cheese Pizza features Buckeye stars from 3 different sports, sold exclusively at Giant Eagle Stores
COLUMBUS, March 11, 2024 – Giant Eagle and The 1870 Society, the top collective supporting Ohio State Athletics, are pleased to announce the second item in their exclusive partnership, introducing a variety of products, each featuring top Ohio State student athletes. The new frozen cheese pizza features top men’s basketball players Bruce Thornton and Zed Key, All-Big 10 Softball Player, Kami Kortokrax, and All-Big 10 Women’s Tennis player, Sydni Ratliff. The first item, JT Tuimoloau Dandruff Shampoo, featuring the All-Big 10 Defensive Lineman, is currently available as well.
Utilizing new Name Image and Likeness rules in college sports, this innovative program will feature student athletes from a variety of sports. To help promote their products, student athletes will support the program through their social media, and even make in-store visits (to be announced at a later date). Haystack Sourcing Solutions is developing the products, in conjunction with Giant Eagle and The 1870 Society.
“Giant Eagle was where I always shopped with my parents growing up,” Kortokrax said. “So the first time I walk in there and see the pizza, it’s gonna have to be with my parents. It will be an incredible moment that still doesn’t feel real.” Key said, “I was extremely excited”. Dream come true to see yourself in stores. Giant Eagle has been great, pizza is great, and people are liking it.”
The Cheese Pizza, with a Crispy Thin Crust and unique 7-cheese blend will sell for $7.99, and it will only be available at Giant Eagle stores throughout Ohio.
